TALENTED STUDENTS DETECTION PROTOCOL FOR TEACHERS
What should we do when we think that we have a talented student in our class?
1. Inform AD (Student Diversity Team) in our school. 2. AD will provide a questionnaire published by the Catalan Education Department that
has to be completed by the teachers, parents and the student. AD will also ask for
the parents’ written permission to evaluate their child. 3. The filled in questionnaires and the written authorisation from the parents are
handed to AD and revised. 4. Depending of the results, AD delivers the case to EAP (Pedagogic Orientation Team)
This a government team which has different educational psychologists that visit
schools regularly (one morning a week) and assess students. 5. The educational psychologist examines and tests the student. After, a report with
the results of the tests and subsequent proposals are written. 6. Family and teachers are informed and given the report. 7. Teachers design a specific plan for the student: PI (Individualized education plan) 8. There is a follow up of the student and his/her plan, to assess it, and decide on its
validity and continuity.
